Thanks again for waiting. I spent - what day is it again? oh yeah, Saturday - Thursday and Friday with Marie and Josiah in Vancouver (thereby, without a nearby internet connection). We had a wonderful time: it was very refreshing and filling, and Josiah is getting better which eases our tension and fears.
Josiah seems to be coming around from his illness, which at this point looks like it was just a common cold. Lots of mucus and boogers, he spent a few days throwing up a lot of mucus balls (yes, that's what they call them) that would gather in his throat. We suck his nose clean of boogers every once in a while through the day too because that stuff really seems to bother him (you should see the bubble he blows with his nose!) and he was getting Tylenol here and there which really seemed to help him recover.
So, Josiah is becoming more alert throughout the day as he rebounding from his first illness. He has been breastfeeding once or twice a day for that few days which really helps mommy and baby to regain their sanity. He is still in isolation and will probably be so until at least mid-week (with a virus patients have to be isolated for at least 10 days), but Josiah's been having one-to-one care the whole time which has been awesome for him (except for today because there was a scheduling mix up, but Marie's going to be there the whole time so it should be alright).
Josiah is still on CPAP, but can go for longer periods without it. He is now on a just room air (for a few days we were giving him extra oxygen) and he hasn't any bradies for a few days now. There have been the odd moments where he has needed PEEP, but the episodes have been very minor and well spread out. He's back to the point where he can cry and get upset and not immediately go into a spell (yahoo!).
That's that I guess. I'm around for the weekend and then I'll be back in Vancouver for a few days next week (Marie's sister is visiting us!).
Thanks for your continued love, prayer and support.
In God's Graces.
- Andrew, Marie & Josiah
