Wow! Another update! So soon!
Just to fill you in, Josiah has developed a bit of a cold or something. His temperature is normal and so is the colour of his secretions (maybe a little thicker), but he's got nose boogers galore. Usually a pretty good sign that a baby is sick.
So the nurses have taken another aspirate sample to see if there is any bacterial or virus that Josiah is fighting. We'll have results in a couple of days. As if Josiah didn't have enough going against him: difficulty maintaining a consistent airway, inflamed trachea, increased air in tummy due to CPAP, teething, hernias, and now a cold. Sheesh.
Anyways, Josiah was pretty agitated this morning (don't blame him) but he will have moments when he is settled, content and alert and will go into some decent sleep. Unfortunately, he did have another episode this afternoon (the first since yesterday morning). It's really hard because it occurred when Marie stepped out for coffee with Leanne and undoubtedly it plays on your mind. Thankfully, Josiah has been handling himself a lot better than the weekend: he will cry (and cry hard) but not immediately require PEEP (pressure-support) which is a good improvement.
To make matters worse, Josiah is partnered with a baby who is even sicker and more of a high-needs case. This doesn't bode well for him and so Marie has to be even more vigilant and involved. The doctors also want to move Josiah into an isolation room so that whatever he has would spread to the other patients. The problem there (beyond the fact we really like our corner location and have A LOT OF STUFF in his corner and A LOT of stuff on the walls - our visitors will agree!) is that there is no room, yet. It even could be tomorrow before he is moved across the room into an isolation room. At least they are working towards getting Josiah with one-on-one care when he's in his own room, but there's always the problem of the nurse taking a break so we'll probably have to stick around for their breaks so that we can respond to Josiah's needs in time.
Thanks for your continued prayer. We ask that you pray for the healing of Josiah's respiratory system, and that he would be healed quickly and fully from whatever ails him today.
In God's Peace.

Thanks for the update, you are in our prayers!!!
(I was REALLY excited to hear about the nursing, I suppose this is hindering that from developing further???)
