Hey, so I thought I'd try something new and great: post BEFORE I head to Vancouver in anticipation that I'll be without internet again :)
Josiah continues to improve a little everyday and is getting back to where he was a couple of weeks ago. He's still on CPAP for most of the day, but he can go longer without it. He's getting back into his routine (physio, breastfeeding, etc) and is doing great. I think there's still the odd bout of mucus and boogers that he has to do deal with and he's still in isolation, but I think that will change by the end of the week (but we'll see).
The best and biggest news of the week (which just absolutely made me melt!): Josiah had his first 'for real' smile! Yay!!! Marie got to see Josiah do a full-out smile three times last night (and there were two nurses to verify it!) before he went back to his 'go-to' serious look :) I'm sooooooooo excited to see him and see if I can get him to smile for me!
Thanks for praying for Josiah's health and wellbeing. I was reminded last night as I was going to sleep that I have to pray beyond Josiah's current symptoms and persistently ask God to heal Josiah of his bigger challenges (respiratory system formation, etc). And pray for us too, especially Marie. One phrase I've been throwing around a lot these days as people ask us how we're doing is 'hospital fatigue'. It is indescribably stressful living in the hospital (and that is what Marie and Josiah are doing) as your entire being is always on edge and high alert, even if your own kid is doing fine. Those who know Marie know she doesn't do well being cooped up out of the sun and fresh air, and having Josiah in isolation has made it even more of a mental challenge for her as it is restricting even the minimal social life she has in the TCU with the nurses and other parents. I'm glad for Emily and Morgan coming out this week - it will give us (Marie especially) and much needed change of pace and opportunity to leave the hospital for a couple of days.
I'm not sure who all visited this weekend while I was gone, but I know Joanne L. dropped by so thank you.
In God's Provision.

Hey there;
I don't know if you'll remember, but I'm the nurse who was pregnant in NICU while you were staying there. I just thought I'd keep my promise and let you know I did have my baby girl. I'm so glad things are going well with Josiah right now. Sounds like he is growing up fast (real smiles and breastfeeding! wow!). Take care you two, and God bless.
