The trach change went well and Josiah's been having a great couple of days in the TCU! Marie is getting more comfortable with our surroundings, but the biggest blessing is the confidence we can have in the nursing staff. They are much more knowledgeable and experienced with trach care than in the NICU, because over there the nurses so rarely had to deal with trach babies. Here, in the TCU, it's a daily reality.
Josiah is taking well to the bottle! It's not much, but yesterday he polished off 12 mL (that's as much as the OT - occupational therapist - will allow him to have right now). I think it's 4 bottles in a row now that he has finished, and it really has helped moving to a 'low flow' nipple because he was just getting too much milk in his mouth at once. Such a cutie.
Josiah obviously enjoys being in that room because there is such much noise and things to see to keep him stimulated when he's awake. He's sleeping fine - right through all that crazy noise sometimes - which is also encouraging to see. Eventually going home to a quiet house will probably be a huge shock to him!!
You can pray about the rash/infection Josiah has around his neck. We've been treating it off and on for a weeks now, but the redness is starting to spread under his trach ties and towards the back of his neck. Just pray that would heal up!
Thanks for all the love.
In God's Goodness.

Hey guys!
Good to hear the transition to the new 'home' is going well and that Josiah is taking so well to eating orally! That is quite an accomplishment!! We continue to hold your family in our prayers and pray specifically for Josiah's development and stability as well as your guys' health and well-being! I'm glad we can have confidence that God is in control of all that goes on and that nothing can happen without Him knowing about it! Love you guys,
take care!

Thats really great you guys!! I found that Kennedy really liked the low flow too. She is actually still on it, and it doesnt seem to bother her.
Im just so glad that everything is going well in the new room. I will come and visit real soon.

Hi Marie & Andrew,
I met Marie's at Aquafit when I was pregnant with our 2nd daughter (born June 17, 2006). I've wondered how you were doing this past year.
I just found out about this blog through the Leisure Center. So a belated congratulations on the birth of your beautiful precious Josiah!
We trust that God will continue to strengthen and heal your little one! Here's some words from Psalm 62 that have blessed us in trying times.
My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard:
that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving.
May God be your strength and pour out His love upon you and fill you with His peace. One thing that has been a blessing in our home is to read the Bible aloud (especially Psalms) and it has ministered to both body and spirit. Maybe you already read to Josiah, but if not, I thought I'd encourage you that though Josiah is little, his spirit can still be ministered to in hearing the words of life!
Anyways, thank you for sharing your life through this blog.
God bless you and we bless you,
Andrew, Melanie, Annelyn & Michaela
