Monday Evening - A Josiah Update

So Josiah was transferred this afternoon to the TCU. For our visitors, just give me a call or email if you want directions to Josiah's new ward. It's going to take some adjustment to this new space, I think more for the parents than for Josiah. We're going to be working with new staff in a public room where most of the children are older. It will be busier, noisier, more crowded and lighter. Josiah still has a decent amount of space around his bed, but it's not in a private room and shares a wide open room with many patients. We've heard good things about nurses over there: there are more familiar with trach patients and it will be easier for Josiah to be get more frequent trips around the hospital. Most of all, we are hoping and praying that Josiah will be be better observed in a public space and that nurses will be able to intervene sooner and prevent the cycles that lead to his dying spells. Unfortunately, Josiah had another one today and needed to be bagged again. it's so frightening, a feeling of deep helplessness just washes over you when you see your child at the mercy of a manual pump. But God is good and in control, right? Hopefully the nurses 'get it' sooner rather than later and will act quickly to help Josiah when he is in distress.

Please pray for Josiah's continued safety, development and healing. Please pray for us parents that we have the energy and hope we need of reach day, and that we will as a family adjust to this new location and embrace this new chapter. It's hard to realizing that we're probably going to be in this room for a long time. We pray for God's mercy.
