Sunday Evening - A Josiah Update

I would have to say that this has been one of my better weekends for consistent posting!

I'm back in Van and I just finished holding Josiah for an hour. SO GREAT holding him like this: don't have to bother with a ventilator (always a pain to stay reasonably still so that it wouldn't tug on his face) and Josiah's so much more content, whether he's awake or asleep.

Tomorrow morning Josiah will have his trach changed - a good thing because this one is I'm sure getting kind of gross. It's not a big deal having the trach changed because the ENT's will handle it right in his crib (and no sedatives, etc necessary), but I suppose the first change is the big one because it will demonstrate how well the stoma has healed/formed.

And tomorrow Josiah MIGHT have his G-Tube surgery! I know! It really through me off when I heard it: you have a plan, you find comfort in the plan, and then you get all frazzled when the plan changes. But surgeon came to talk to Marie today to let her know that there is an open slot tomorrow, so they'll most likely take Josiah into the OR on Monday. We'll hopefully have a time in the morning (maybe during doctor's rounds) so if you want to be praying for Josiah specifically, I'll post the time as soon as we know.

Josiah's has had a really good day: he had a bath (first time since last Sunday at least!), and lots of cuddles with mommy and daddy. He's completely off his morphine now, but still receiving sedatives. Josiah's surprising his nurse with his lung strength and ability to cough up his goobers: most babies who have been on the vent for so long can't muster up the power with their diaphram, but our man has no problem.

I think that pretty much covers it. If anyone is still awake when this post hits net, "Good Night!" Otherwise - for everyone else - "Good Morning!"

Grace & Peace.
- Andrew, Marie & Josiah

Am praying that all goes well today with the stoma change and the possible surgery.

Father be with Marie Andrew and Josiah today. Give them all what they stand in need of and we ask for a easy and routine g-tube surgery so that recovery will be quick.
