It's 1 PM and Josiah still isn't in the OR; he'll probably be there in the next hour or so. He's on the 'emergency list' so there's no set time. The only reason he has a chance of getting in today is because there are no beds open in Children's and so all the kids who were supposed to come in today for surgeries can't. Hopefully that will change as the week goes!
Josiah had his trach examined this morning and things are looking pretty good. There is small concern about the ulcer that has developed just below his stoma. The doctors have placed medical dressing (Anticoat) on it to protect the area and help it heal. Josiah has now lost both of his sutures spontaneously (yikes!), but that's only a concern if for some reason he pops out his trach and the stoma closes - that shouldn't be the case. The doctor left his trach in (rather than replacing it with a new one) because it's doing just fine.
For the most part, Josiah doesn't need suctioning: he coughs his secretions out. He's having a hard time sleeping today (who wouldn't with an empty stomach since 8 AM!), but he's doing fine right now. There was some minor concern earlier in the day when small amounts of blood showed up on the dressing around the trach and inside the trach itself, but it was probably due to aggitation when the Anticoat was applied, and there hasn't been any more blood since the one cleaning.
Time for me to head back to Abbostford. Please continue to pray for our Josiah (I'll try to post when he goes into OR, but I might be away from a comp), and pray for Marie because she hasn't been feeling 100% today (stress & lack of sleep).
Much Love.

.comSo much happening with the little guy each day. No wonder you guys are tired and stressed. Who would'nt be?
God please provide Marie and Andrew with much needed rest and stress relief!! Allow them to be able to function so that they can be there for their little guy. I ask that all would go well the rest of today and if the surgery does happen that it would go smoothly.
As always Thank You Lord for being who You are and for doing what You would do.
Love Sue
hey guys,
here is some inspirational quotes i thought might be nice;
When the going gets tough the tough get closer to God.
God doesnt give us anything we can't handle, not saying that its not going to be hard and stressful and that you won't want to pull your hair out at times, but just thought i would share that with you. That God is there even when it doesn't feel like it sometimes.
May God bless you three you are in my thoughts and prayers. :)
