Friday Evening - A Josiah Update

Right now I'm feeling kind of weird because Marie & I took advantage this afternoon of Josiah's one-on-one care with one of his primary nurses and so we took a nap ... a 3 and 1/2 hour nap! Yikes! It was so great, but man I'm feeling wired!

Josiah has had a pretty good day. The down-er is that they have moved him from P-1 (a seperate room where it was quiet, dark, and all by himself) back to Room 41 (the big room that he's been in for most of the time). It's pretty obvious that he's not enjoying the change: he's not sleeping as deep, he needs a little more oxygen than before (probably because he's not as relaxed), and they have him right beside a phone / door / and computer so there's constant traffic and noise. We aren't impressed, so we'll be talking to the doctors tomorrow. In our opinion this spot should be reserved for babies in incubators where the noise can be dulled, but poor Josiah is left in an open crib and can't even have a blanket canopy over him to block out a little noise.

But Josiah's been sleeping longer than before the surgery, so that's a good sign. He usually has only 2 awake periods in a day - of course, the steady dose of sedatives helps but even still, when he wakes he doesn't immediately cry and fuss like he used to because he doesn't have that ET tube rubbing up and down his throat.

We were able to meet with two people today who help families get set up for their move out of the hospital - Woo Hoo! We are tentatively aiming for the beginning of June to be out of the hopsital, but all of this hinges on Josiah's medical progress: how he heals, how he develops, whether or not he contract any infections etc. So yeah, how exciting is that?!

Time for me to go chill with the man. Thanks for your continued support, thoughts, and prayers. Without your presence in our lives, we wouldn't have made it.
- Andrew, Marie & Josiah

Hey Guys!
That's so great that you have a "move out date" to work towards, and even if its not that exact time, its nice to know that the day is approaching sooner rather then later!! Love all the new pics of Josiah, its so great to beable to see his whole face and argue about who he looks like!! Take care, Love (and a big hug!) from Daniel and Renee!
