Saturday Afternoon - A Josiah Update

I'm here in Abbotsford at the CBC Youthworkers Conference, but I just got off the phone with Marie who let me know that Josiah is having a very good morning! It's quite the relief to me because last night when I talked to Marie she told me that Josiah during the evening had gone 'brady' a couple times during 2 bouts of extreme fussiness (brady is when your heartbeat slows way down to a dangerous level). Thankfully each time Josiah was able to 'pull himself out' of it and hasn't been brady since, but still it's quite scary to watch and the nurses couldn't find an explanation for us.

Anyways, the most important thing is that Josiah is doing well. The nurses and Marie also found a great new position for Josiah in his crib. The have placed his bum at the very bottom of his 'nest' (two rolled up towels in a 'U' shape that usually went just below his feet) and allow his legs to hang over the edge. This way he can kick (which he does a lot of) and won't push himself up when he stretches and excercises. In the past, we would push himself forwards by pushing against the base of the nest which would in turn tug and pull at his breathing tube (not very comfortabe in deed).

So, I'm back into another session here at CBC. It's been fantastic to once again be learning under Marv Penner. That man is gifted! It's been also good to catch up with youth leader friends and to make some new friends. Marie and her mom had a sleepover last night which I thought was great. I'll be in church tomorrow and then I'll head back (once again!) to Vancouver.

In God's Incredible Grace & Peace.
