Hi Folks
I'll keep this a brief post since there are only two things to pass along: first, Josiah is sick. He's got a raging fever and so he's on antibiotics and blood/aspirate samples have been sent in to see what he has. He's pretty lethargic and getting into weird coughing fits which is exhausting him. Pray for a speedy recovering.
Secondly, Josiah has MRSA, a form of staph bacteria that can resist common antibiotics. Josiah is showing no signs of infection (his trachea looks very healthy and he has no rashes, etc) and we aren't concerned about it since 30% of the population has MRSA (and most of them don't know it nor feeling any effects). But since there are multiple cases of MRSA now in the TCU, we have a new isolation set up that we are trying to adjust to. We all (parents and staff) are trying to make the best of a bad situation that nobody likes. It's kind of dreary (little natural light), very stuffy, and largely a pain in the butt but this policy is in place for the slight chance that someone who is immunal compromised might pick up this bacteria and get it into their system. For the sake of the staff and everyone in the room, we ask that we don't have any visitors until we get used to this new system. Thanks for understanding!
