Hey Everyone
I just pulled in from Vancouver and I'm pretty exhausted, so I keep this to the bare minimum.
Josiah had a crabby day - he's teething (two teeth showing really good now), he's trying to get used to formula (Marie has decided to stop pumping) plus he must have had a headache or something. Vitamin T (that's Tylenol) is his friend. I guess the hard thing is that every baby has their days when they cry pretty much the whole time, but with our Josiah it's fairly precarious because he has no oxygen reserves. This means if he cries, we PEEP. And - Wow! - I think we witnessed his first "I'm ANGRY!" cries! He's belted it out before, but this was taking things to a new level. Thankfully he didn't have any malaysia spells today, just a whole lot of PEEP-ing.
Josiah did have a seizure around 10 PM (first since Saturday night) and it was probably the resulting of an exhausting difficult day. The seizure was uber-brief and he self-recovered (a first) so that's good. Tomorrow the doctors were planning to check his blood anyways to see what his med levels were and how well they were being absorbed, so we'll know pretty quickly if his dosage needs to be adjusted.
The strangest thing about Josiah's day was that he HATED lying down (that's why we think he had a headache). He wouldn't even receive a cuddle. The only way he would stop crying (besides being so exhausted he could no longer avoid sleep) was holding him upright (not sitting, but leaning against us). And then he was totally calm, didn't even need his soother. Weird kid.
We bought Josiah a couple of teething toys to help him out. He at first was pretty interested in this gel-teddy that you freeze to harden, but then he drooled so much he gagged and puked. That was kind of funny actually. And - Wow! - Josiah has THE teddy bear. Natalie (a patient who was beside Josiah for a couple weeks) bought him a Grund bunny and Josiah LOVES it. We cuddle him with it whenever he sleeps and strokes it and toys with it so much. So great to see (our physiotherapist was pretty stoked!)
That's the scoop. Thanks for the love.

Josiah's not a wierd kid at all. I babysat my 5 month old grandson today and he was crabby too. Also teething. He didn't want to cuddle either or lay down. I had him held upright agaisnt me too and that worked better. Hey if it works it works. For Josiah maybe everything is just eaiser for him some of the time when he is upright.
So glad that he self recovered from his latest seizure. Thank You God. Continue to be with him and bless them all.
Love Sue
It sounds like God is shining his warm rays down on you and your family Andrew!
