Hey Crew
Just a brief one! Josiah has had a fantastic weekend/start to his week. Today we are hoping that he'll get a 'button g-tube' and get rid of that foley catheder that has been in his belly since Friday. The foley was giving him some irritation because it stuck a little further into his stomach than the g-tube, so he has been switched to continuous feeds rather than being fed every three hours for an hour. Josiah was throwing up a lot before the switch, and has done really well since. We might even move to a continuous feed overnight so that he is not as gassy/irritable when he gets up in the morning, or try to eliminate the night time feeds altogether. We'll see!
We've been able to go on a few walks with Josiah, and yesterday was the first time he slept through the entire trip - but I'm sure he still enjoyed it! We've been blessed with amazing nurses in the NICU, and a couple have already signed up to be his primaries (it took MONTHS to get a primary in the NICU!) Last night was so great: Marie and I went out to diner (oh yeah Denny's breakie - man ... good french toast!), and when we got back our nurse was cuddling Josiah and told us to back off and get lost (in a loving way of course!) And so we did! It's so incredible to know that Josiah is being loved by his caretakers - one nurse has already gave herself the title of 'Auntie Pam' which is so neat.
Josiah is getting physio every day in the TCU and he's been responding very well to it. We're hoping in a few weeks he'll have really good control of his head. He's responding to the bottle off and on, but I think he's moved up to 14 ml per bottle. Oh, and we're pretty sure Josiah is going to pull off an actual smile really soon! He's trying so hard, it's really cute!
Thanks to Uncle Ron & Aunt Betty-Lou H. who baby-sat Josiah for FIVE HOURS when Marie and I were hanging with the youth Sunday night, and thanks to Cindy & Kelly S. for dropping by Monday. Hopefully in a few days I'll have some new pictures to post.
Until next time, may God's grace & peace be yours.
- Andrew, Marie & Josiah

What an encouraging post today!! Praise the Lord for His answers to all of our prayers. I am so glad that Josiah has primary nurses now who are so compassionate!
It is great that the two of you have been able to get away together and also hang out with the youth. God is good. He is in control.
I send my love and prayers. (Hello also to Marie's parents. We miss you! It wasn't the same at the pastors and wives barbecue without you.)

Hey Guys:
It's good to hear you've had some good stuff going on. Good primary nurses are definetly a blessing and answer to prayer. Thank You God for Your goodness.

I live in Washington State and have been reading your blog for several months now. I know you don't know me, but something struck me today and I just had to share.
I just think that it is so amazing that Josiah will have all of these journal entries to pour over and read when he is older. He will be able to see your daily love for him and faith in God.
There is not one week of his life where he won't be able to see such amazing devotion.
There are several of us down here who have been so impacted by your writings and Josiah's life! We continue to pray for his perfect healing.
Marie, Thanks SOOO much for the visit on Tuesday. You were so encouraging. The strength that you shared with me was incredible. It was great to see how this new ward is giving you opportunity for such joy, praise God!! You and your family are in my prayers everyday. (Sawyer's surgery was long but very successful and we are home today.)
