Friday Evening - A Josiah Update

Hey Guys

Josiah is having another good day and continues to rest well (though he still has his fussy moments). My folks again were able to spend a lot of time hanging out with him. I think my mom had his hand wrapped around her finger for hours (literally of course, but perhaps figuratively!) I'm planning on hanging out with him tonight during his 9:00 feed.

Marie and I sat down with one of the doctor's today just to recap Josiah's condition. He gave us some really good things to think about as we prepare to meet with the team next week to discuss Josiah's next step. He wasn't able to answer the questions that were specific to his airways and respiratory system (that's for the ENT specialists), but he encouraged us by letting us know that he believes we can take our time making a descision on Josiah's 'trache' or not (ie it doesn't necessarily have to happen next week). It is this doctor's opinion that we can wait a few more weeks to see if Josiah can breathe on his own (which we'd be all over!), but we'll still have to wait for our team meeting which will involve everyone who's apart of this process (including the ENT specialists; ENT, btw, stands for Ear-Nose-Throat).

So, pray for Marie and I as we wait on God and ask for clear direction. I've been praying that if it is God's will for Josiah to be given another chance to breathe on his own that God will also bring the doctors and the specialists to the same conclusion. A lot of this equation is also based on timing; not waiting too long asnd not forcing a chance too quickly, something that God will also have to reveal to us. A 'trache' is always a last case scenario and by choosing this direction, it could set Josiah on an irreversalable path (ie. by choosing a 'trache' we may be determining that he'll be on a 'trache' for the rest of his life). On the other hand, he can't be on the respirator for months either without getting (potentially) seriously ill.

Thanks for your continued prayers. Please pray for us as we meet with the doctors and specialists next week (hopefully on Tuesday, but that will be determined on Monday). Pray that we'll clearly understand what they are communicating to us, and pray that as a team (and as parents!) we'll make the right decision for Josiah. Thanks to Caitlin B. for dropping by to say hello!

Blessings Everyone.

God says,

"as you stand,

I will show you how strong I am!"

My prayer for this week is that all appointments and meetings would be divine appointments and that all discussions and decisions would be by divine intervention.

God bless the three of you!
