Saturday Afternoon - A Josiah Update

Hi All
It's been a week since I last posted, so I figured you were all owed a brief recap :D

Josiah has had a good week. It's undescrible slingshotting from a critical be-prepared-to-say-good-bye-t0-your-child situation to a your-kid's-heart-is-fine-we-don't-know-what's-wrong-with-him situation. It took some time to sink in, but we're really relieved and excited. The doctors are still undecided about what to do with our guy and Josiah still has the odd day where it's hard to breathe because of the edema (water rentention), but all in all things have been very good. Only one uber-scary moment when his trach popped out and Josiah went dark blue (scarriest thing to happen since Josiah self-extubated in the NICU), but other than that everything's been great and Josiah's been a superstar.

Josiah tried his first rollover this week ... and got stuck, but he's wasn't upset about it! He's getting a lot better at entertaining himself, which has a lot to do with him finding his voice and 'singing' to himself for as long as he can. He's doing a lot better too for head control and such, so maybe we'll have sitting up by Christmas - that would be cool!

Our church has graciously given me a full-pay 2-month leave of absence so that Marie and I can be together more often. Incredibly, incredibly generous and loving - Marie and I are so grateful and feel so blessed. I'll probably (OK, definitely!) go a little crazy not working, but it will certainly give Marie and I rest and take an edge off of the stress we carry.

In God's Graces.

Hey guys!

So glad you had a good week, but I have to admit we were going a little crazy waiting for word on Josiah--no guilt, just to let you know we are VERY interested in how you are doing and how Josiah is doing.

We love you,
Leanne Dyck

Dear Andrew, Marie and Josiah ~

Thanks for the update. It is just so like the Lord to bring encouragement and hope when it is desperately needed!! Praise God for His mercies which are new every morning!

Great news regarding your leave of absence with pay! What a wonderful church you serve!

I pray that this time will bring rest and renewal plus some positive changes in Josiah's condition.

My love and prayers,

Bev Johnston

Andrew & Marie,

We really loved getting to spend time with you both (and Josiah!) on Saturday. Let's make sure we do something again sooner than later!

It was great to do lunch and to share what's been on our hearts lately, and to hear how you both are doing!

We love you three so much! You're always in our prayers!

P.S. Marie...don't forget to chat with Charity about the dress!

Dear Marie, Andrew and Josiah,

Wow I can't believe I finally found this website. Marie you had mentioned to me you had a site one day and believe it or not it took me this long to locate it :) This is Christine Bracaglia (mother of Gabriella); we met while in the NICU back in June and you and your husband graciously gave my husband and I tickets to the football game which sadly we were unable to use as my head was in such a whirlwind from all the events. I have often thought about you three and wondered how you have all been and it is so great to hear Josiah is doing well this week. Gabriella and I stopped by the unit the other day in hopes to bump into you two to say hi-while at Children's for an appointment, but by the time I located the unit Gabi was not in the greatest of moods. Well I know we do not know each other very well but I wanted to let you know how much your kindness and support meant to me while we we're at Children's Hospital. You are both exceptional individuals, who while going through all that you are going through, still had the energy, caring hearts and ability to be there for others. Words cannot really express my appreciation for the kindness you showed to us while at Children's. I wish you all the best and perhaps next time Gabi ans I are at Children's we will bumo into each other.

Take care,
Christine, Mike and Gabriella Bracaglia
