Tuesday Morning - A Josiah Update

Briefly ... because we have a trach training class any second now ...

Josiah has had an OK weekend. There have been really good moments, and then others that may be a little concerning. For a while this morning he had a hard time saturating himself and so he's getting some chest physio right now (puts him right to sleep!) to help clear up the lungs and get the secretions out. He may get an x-ray later in the day to assess his lungs' progress. His secretions have been thicker as of late, perhaps because he's not getting enough humidity into his lungs.

Josiah has one of his primary nurses this morning, and she thinks Josiah is a little more pale than last week, so immediately they are concerned about an infection, but he doesn't have a fever or show any other symptons but they'll keep an eye on him for that. There also have been a few brady-s, which are not never encouraging, and he may have had a bit of a brief convulsion at one point yesterday (which is concerning because seizures can be a part of his syndrome - we just have never given it any thought because he hadn't showed any signs of that yet).

The wound care nurse came by yesterday and has given Josiah a different dressing for his trach stoma wound. It will help keep the wound dry and heal it; thankfully also, the wound is clean and not a 'bad wound'.

Josiah is slowing coming off his medazolin (spelling?!) [sedative] which means he's becoming more alert and for more time throughout the day. He's wiggling a whole lot more, moving his limbs and upper body a lot more too (probably also due to the fact he's getting past his post-op pain), which is so cute and great to see. He's quite the party animal too: Josiah quite regularly wakes up around 11 PM at night to hang out for a while. Not good for the parents though - we're always trying to leave the hospital around that time!

I think those are all the major points to pass along, but I'll try to post more in the evening. My family is out for the next couple of days so I may be pressed for time to blog, but we'll see. Please continue to pray for both of his stomas as they heal, and pray that Josiah doesn't get sick.

Thanks. In God's Love.

While I was just praying and reading the Word I felt encouraged to share with you a bit of what I read...
Ro 4:18-25 and Ro 5:1-5

My prayer for you is that: against all hope, you in hope believe and so become the father of many nations, just as it had been said to Abraham, "So shall your offspring be."

Love you guys,
my family!
