Friday Evening - A Josiah Update

Marie and I are heading out for a while (dinner and chill with some friends), but I wanted to post briefly that Josiah has been having a pretty good day. He continues to receive a sedative every 8 hours just to help him relax and encourage long periods of sleep. When he's been awake today Marie's been able to have a lot of fun playing with him. Josiah had some chest physio today also which he apperantly really enjoyed. Marie took some video so I'll be watching that later.

Josiah's self-extubation hasn't affect his timeline at all, so April 25th is still a 'go'. The head ENT stopped by for a quick peek at Josiah and seems to be encouraged (a very very little bit though ... I don't think he still has much optimism for Josiah). Josiah is now just on 'pressure support'. Basically it means that the machine isn't pumping oxygen into him at regular intervals any more. Josiah breathes on his own power, with the machine basically acting as 'standy by support'. This is great 'practice' for breathing on his own, and has some of the doctors encouraged! Of course Josiah still has the tube in his throat, but we're praying that Josiah will be able to breathe on his own and maintain his airway without a tube keeping it open for him.

Alrighty, time for some chow. Hopefully I'll be able to put up another entry before bedtime.

Thank you Jesus is all I can, and will continue to say. I know (okay I can never totally know, but you know what I mean), the past few months have been so crazy and topsie turvey (did I spell that correst), and in the midst of that you both have been able to hang on to Jesus and listen to Him. Keep holding on the faith Jesus have past on to you and holding onto the promise that Josiah will be healed. When God makes a promise he always keeps it. I am looking forward to reading the blog that is almost a shout because Josiah is breathing on his own.

We love the three of you very deeply, and will continue to talk to God as you do too. See you soon.

Love and Prayers, Leanne and Jeral(my hansdome better half, especially in the morning. Why is it that guys can wake up and get out of bed and never have to do anything to fix their hair? go figure. Oh well!! Hope I made you laugh!)

Hey Guys:

I think it's a positive sign if Josiah has to work a little harder for his air with the smaller tube because it may well just prepare him a lot better for a successful extubation! I'm still praying hard all the time as we all wait upon the Lord together for His miracle! He is getting so big and so cute!

I've got to go I just got a call from my son in law at the hospital. I think I told you Marie that she is also having a baby. Her due date is tommorow and she went in this morning and is now at 9 cm. So I'm off to the hospital

Talk to you soon

Love Sue

I'm glad to see that you and Marie are getting out and taking some time for yourselves with friends...you deserve it!

I just thought I'd send you a little encouraging note today as I felt God wanted me to share a bit of what he told me again today...while I was praying for you guys.Jesus says, "I AM sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (the doctors that are pessimistic and unhelpful are the wolves, as well as the confusion, stress, and maybe even anger, that can so easily entangle and drag you down making you feel like a sheep being torn apart by a wolf.) Matt 10:16

BUT you know "his mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. Luke 1:50 I fear him, and you fear him...so KNOW that God is merciful even among the wolves!!!

AND finally, this is the best message ever from God...so fitting for today as you two take a break I THINK, BUT God is watching over Josiah..."I lift my eyes up to the hills...[praying for you guys] where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth,

Andrew and Marie, he will not make your foot slip [though sometimes you feel emotionally insane]---he who watches over your little Josiah will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you all---the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm---he will watch over your life Josiah; the Lord will watch over your coming and going Andrew and Marie, both now and forevermore. AMEN~
